Foster Forward: Scholarship Challenge

  • Tuesday, April 10, 2018
  • 5:00 PM - 7:45 PM
  • 1801 E Canfield St, Detroit, MI 48207

The Early Awareness and Multicultural Opportunities (EAMO) Committee will conduct a series of financial aid workshops, Foster Forward for students who have experienced foster care, as well as caregivers.  The workshops will be conducted in partnership with Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) staff. Foster Forward focuses on college financing and college success strategies.  One grand prize scholarship will be awarded as well as multiple scholarships in smaller amounts.  Scholarships will be awarded based on an essay; the topic will be announced at the Foster Forward kick-off on Thursday, February 22.  Additional Foster Forward dates and locations will be forthcoming.

Our next workshop in the Foster Forward: Scholarship Challenge. This event is coming up on Tuesday, April 10, 2018** 5:00 - 7:45pm.

It is a crucial workshop because we will be coaching students through writing their scholarship essay. The essays will be due that night and only those who submit essays will be considered for one of the MSFAA-EAMO scholarships.

The location is 1801 E Canfield St, Detroit, MI 48207. Since it is an evening workshop, dinner is provided at the center courtesy of DHHS. If you can attend, we could use the extra support as the students will need help formatting their essays.

If you are not able to attend but would like to advertise your college and donate, please reach out to Ingrid (CloverI@michigan.gov) or Julia Delagarza (jdelagarz@emich.edu) to make arrangements.

**April 10th replaces the workshop originally planned for April 12th due to a scheduling conflict at DHHS.
