Extreme Reality Workshop at Harbor Lights

  • Thursday, March 15, 2018
  • 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Harbor Lights 1024 136th Ave, Holland, MI 49424

On behalf of the Early Awareness Multicultural Outreach (EAMO) committee, we are pleased to announce an upcoming financial literacy event at Harbor Lights School (Harbor Lights). EAMO will be partnering with Harbor Lights to conduct an Extreme Reality workshop on the morning of Thursday, March 15; the event will involve approximately 300 6th grade students. Harbor Lights is located at 1024 136th Ave, Holland, MI 49424.

We are very excited to participate in this activity. Extreme Reality is a financial literacy role-playing workshop in which students are assigned careers, budgets, and expenses, and are then challenged to create budgets.

The Extreme Reality event on March 15 will require adult volunteers. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage young people on the subject of financial literacy as well as the importance of college and career planning. We encourage Michigan Student Financial Aid Association (MSFAA) members, financial aid professionals, and their colleagues to participate and show their support for financial literacy education and outreach. Volunteers will receive the Extreme Reality materials, as well as the materials for the newer workshop, Extreme Reality STEM, to implement in their own programs.

Interested volunteers should contact EAMO co-chairs Ingrid Clover or Julia Delagarza by Monday, March 6. Ingrid can be reached at cloveri@michigan.gov or 517-373-4086. Julia can be reached at jdelagarz@emich.edu or 734-487-3536.
