The EAMO workshops use a strength-based approach, incorporating the students’ academic strengths, skills, and interests into workshop activities.  Workshop partners include the University of Michigan Dearborn Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) and the Michigan State University College Advising Corps.

Fall 2016 Scholarship Workshop Syllabus

  •  11/10.  Extreme Reality STEM, an in interactive financial literacy activity focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) career paths.  Introduce EAMO Scholarship Essay Contest
  • 11/17. Find Your Interest/College Application/Scholarship Essay.  Students will participate in activities to help them find and express their personal voice.  Students will begin pre-writing activities for the Scholarship Essay Contest.
  • 12/1.  Essay Workshop.  Students work on rough draft of essay with the assistance of workshop facilitators.
  • 12/8College Financial Aid.  Each student will prepare a college financial aid plan, with the assistance of workshop facilitators.
  • 12/15.  Scholarship Search (computer lab, if possible). Students will search for scholarship opportunities.   Students submit scholarship essays.
  • 1/12.  Award Scholarships and Intro to College Greek Organizations.  Scholarships will be awarded and representatives of Greek organizations will present an overview of the college Greek experience.
